We made it this far. And we have you to thank for it !

Our real world début happened and fittingly so. On International Women’s Day – 8th March, 2015, WorldArtCommunity.com partnered with the well known online community – Gurgaon Moms, to host a pop-up art and craft experience at the happening Cyber-Hub in Gurgaon.

Considering that we are blessed to be surrounded by the artistic beauty and talent of our partner artists – we thought it’s only fair to bring you a curated version on this special day. A few of our favourite partner artists graciously volunteered their time to share their artistic lives, their story and their passion.

As a bonus – we also had each Artistic Master host a MasterClass where they guided a select, pre-registered group of enthusiasts through a special hands-on learning and discovery session.

We began with the Creative Clay Camp hosted by Sachi Chandel Tripathi – National Institute of Design Alumnus. Sachi worked with a group of young mothers and their kids to teach them techniques of pottery creation and encouraged them to create their own masterpieces in a one on one interaction. What was amazing was how she made the entire creation process simple enough to enjoy with everyone fashioning a tiny personal “masterpiece” which was priceless for its creator !

The MasterClass on Art Expressions hosted by by Gopal Namjoshi – eminent muralist, artist, and Installation designer was a smash hit. Participants included those who had never created any art – but with some gentle coaxing from the Master were able express what they could see or feel at that moment. Thus – a lot of artistic visions came to life in a short span amidst a happy clutter of canvases, colour, brushes and paint ! The highlight was a personalized critique on each participant’s work by the Master Artist himself with constructive inputs on how they could better their form, technique and style.

The Upcycling workshop hosted by Ruchira Sarin of Ode2Greens was a treat for nature lovers and gardening enthusiasts as she taught a medley of participants how to upcycle the humble glass jar and tea glass in to funky planters for urban green spaces using materials such as twine, rope and more. Her charmingly arranged green display was the highlight of the day !

The final workshop on Photography Expressions had renowned photographer Shyam Prasad – Director of Shoots & Shoots Academy guide the audience on how to get best results with one’s camera. All sorts of cameras were on hand – from the regular point-and-shoot to DSLR’s to even the humble phone camera ! And each one honed their amateur photographer status to produce images that were unique, and different with tips and tricks from the Artistic Master.

Enthusiasm abounded, expressions created, joy happened in our day-long event. Families made the most of the day as they took turns to baby-sit their kids and spent time discovering their artistic side. Those with older kids joined in collectively – to grab family time and immerse themselves in learning and creating something new for themselves.

And our Guess the Price game was the highlight of the day as the Tall Teapot created by Sujatha Kshirsagar of Earthifacts was up for grabs to the person who guessed it’s price correctly. The lucky winner chosen by draw of lots was Deepti Patra as there was a tie with three participants guessing the price correctly.

All in all – we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on a part sunny, part cloudy day, re-discovering our artistic side. In case you missed out – you know what to look forward to the next time round ! Watch out for more of our events and live interactions as we grow and blossom !
