Presenting bamboo as a material for elegant and minimal furniture for seating. The curves and the composition of the elements make the form more organic, which gives a sense of natural softness in its aesthetics with a clean and fresh finish.
It all started with this chair, where we realized the potential of bamboo as a material for the future. We aim to shift the preconceived notion of bamboo as a poor man's timber to the material of the future.
IT BENDS
Due to the natural flexural strength of bamboo, the backrest of the chair has a cushiony effect.
In contrast with traditional hardwood furniture, though bamboo fibers are more strong yet bamboo furniture has a supple, organic - padded feel to it, making it more comfortable.
STRENGTH
We realized that in most of the furniture structures the fragilities are always on the joints. One has to take half of one component and half of another component, so the joints, which hold the pressure of the whole structure, are already half as strong the components around it which is quite inefficient. So we eliminated the joints by incorporating triangles into the geometry. Thus, now the strength is in the complete geometry and all the pressure is not bored by just the joints.
LIGHTWEIGHT
Since the geometry of the form is simplified into triangles we get to use less material and hence making it lightweight.
READY-T0-ASSEMBLE
The assembly of the chair is very easy. The idea behind is designed by keeping in mind that the user can easily assemble it by using a simple Allen Key Tool. The bolts can be simply inserted on to the holes in the legs and can be further tightened on to the seat pan with the help of an Allen Key. And backrest can also be assembled in the same manner.
