INTRODUCTION

The visual culture around me always inspires and influences my works. I was born and brought up in Andhra Pradesh,Telangana culture – rickshaws, people, their lifestyle etc. - around me influenced my earlier works. Here, actually means virtually the opposite to imitation. During my internship programme with the artisans of Pochampally silk sarees, I encountered their socio-economic conditions, their social status, education, market policies etc. Here, society, as I understood can be defined in terms of the whole range of institutions, political, legal, social, and economic activities. In recent years, hand-loom weavers of Pochampally have been facing crisis. While many analysts blame the government policies for this situation, there is no denial that there are other factors even. Fundamental among them is the improper response of the hand loom sector to the modern and dynamic markets and the competition grew from mills and power looms. As a result, there are no policies or schemes which address such issues. Within the sector, no organization or platform has addressed such issues. In my recent works, I am trying to represent above mentioned socio- cultural and economic conditions of Pochampally weavers and their suicidal actions. The understanding of the culture of weavers by depiction of weavers, their daily activities, weaving process, etc. helped me to reach towards symbolic representation of bobbins and complexity of thread, metaphorical depiction of skull as a symbolism of death and fear, silk worm and its complex weaving activity etc. One of the principal motivations of the series of works after studying Pochampally culture, is a desire for a further elaboration of my earlier interest in the direction of sym

I was born at Velvarthy (village), Valigonada (mandal), Nalgonda (district), Telangana in a small artisans family which is famous for Pochampally silk sarees.

ACADAMICS:

BFA (Painting) in JNTU College of Fine Arts, Masab Tank, Hyderabad in the year 2010.
M.F.A (Graphic Art) in M.S.University, Baroda, Gujarath, India, in the year 2013.
