Son of Shri Mukti Banerjee who is also an artist of Indian Painting and contemporary of Ramananda Bandopadhyay, Krishna Reddy and world famous director Satyajit Ray. When Shri Mukti Banerjee was a student, the tutors at Kala Bhavan (Santiniketan) were Nandalal Bose, Binod Behari, Abanindronath Tagore and Ramkinkar Bez to name a few...... When I was a student, even I had the opportunity to learn from amazing teachers like Bikash Bhattacharjee, K.G. Subramaniam (Mani Da), Isha Mohammad, Badan Da, Ganesh Halui, Niranjan Pradhan and so on....
