INTRODUCTION

I am fascinated by the field of art and the area of psychology around it. My main interest has grown to be centered around color and line, and their unique approach in the creation of “Expressive Forms”. Hence, the process of my work is guided by the tactile quality of paint, support and sometimes with studio space arrangement t. I start applying color onto my drawing till these two become one in the realisation of my idea of these“Significant Forms” . This significant form are further guiding me for the further application of color and line to make it more powerful, So my way of painting has essence of expressionism, automatism and fauvism. In BFA Painting I have acquired and honed the skills of the visual language. I was dealing with the themes and subject close to my Indian middle class religious background. The imagery for these works was drawn from the rituals and traditions which were a part of my daily life. As my visual language was maturing, the chosen medium of my work varied in response to these themes. This execution was supported with the feel and heft of my tools as well as its specific surface. Although the themes expressed therein are drawn from my personal experiences, I am interested in arousing sensory emotions in the viewer on this subject matter. During the MFA Fine Art program, I am exploring further this subject / theme of the unusual organic forms on two dimensional supports. I am converting them into painting, an idea which I owe to my subsidiary subject of weaving. In my work I am trying to explore organic forms/geometric abstract shapes with an idea of sacred sensuality that realize me, every good and beautiful is divinity. I also want to overcome the materialistic challenge because the availability or absence of certain materials can have a profound effect, as an artistic expressive essence just needs a medium to reflect emotions. I will use elements of assemblage to create mystical relationship between Art and Ritual
