Education -- B.V.A. (Bachelor of Visual Art) from The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Rabindra Bharati University in 2004.
Awards -- College Awards in Annual Exhibitions of 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Glowing colours and economic use of lines characterise the works of Raktim Chatterjee. Water colours form the backbone of his art, playing the parts of crisp, clear outlines, detailed shading and blurred and smoky backgrounds. The sketched borders are kept to a minimum on subjects and are not found at all on the backdrops or the shading. These are worked out in fading, seemingly carelessly applied brushstrokes, which give the effect of a great distance. The foreground colours shine out of the canvas and shading gives the subjects an appearance of intricate detail.
