Puja Bhakoo has been handcrafting original petit point/needlepoint tapestries for over 30 years – reinventing, in the process, this 18th century European art form by lending it an indo-ethnic dimension. Drawing inspiration from India’s myriad cultures, Puja sketches, paints, and then embroiders human figures on canvas, without using any stencil or graph. Being time-intensive and intricate, each artwork takes her 4-12 months to complete.
