Material : Wool
Dimension : 6'8" x 9'
The Taimani tribe of central Afghanistan has woven this bright Barjesta carpet/rug. It was made between 1970-1980 which makes it approximately 40-50 years old. The carpet/rug has a cartouche-like design that is repeated throughout which is a stylized and straight version of the traditional flowers used. This is a signature of the Barjesta carpets/rugs. The carpet/rug is three dimensional as it is a mixture of a flatweave and a knotted carpet/rug. The colours are mainly grey, beige, tan and brick. The wool used in the carpet/rug is locally sourced and the dyes are naturally obtained. The Socio-Ethnographic conditions that existed during the weaving of this carpet/rug are almost non existant today.
