The Water series of Art tiles are inspired by the varied emotions that water embodies in it. Its turbulence or rhythmic flow; it is a force of nature alive with emotions. I have always lived in a water city but it was only a few years ago at Vipassana meditation that I realised how much I loved the feel of water. Ever since, I have done many works inspired by water. The Water art tiles in the above image were created as a pair – the flow of the river and the vortex. All my work is in stoneware ceramic fired at 1200 degrees celsius. This makes the clay hard and vitreous. This work is unglazed retaining the natural matt of the clay. The heightened texture of the clay sharpens the form and I rarely glaze my artwork. The ceramic pigments have been mixed in the clay to create the palette of blues. The Water tiles look best installed on a narrow wall or column.
