Every city has its innate texture. To me the true texture of Old cities of Italy stood out, not just in their monuments, but also in the narrow lanes and by lanes of the old city around the centre. These people lived their day-to-day lives, right in the centre of history, and yet they did not seem to carry the weight of the centuries that had been lived in those lanes. Just the awareness of this fantastic combination of modern life and history was quite fascinating !
